A twin set costs less than $30 (and often goes on sale for much less), and although the fabric is rougher than that of the Pottery Barn Kids sheets (some Target shoppers do give these sheets low marks for softness), the prints are bright and eye-catching, and my sensory-sensitive kiddo hasn’t complained about sleeping on them. I also like Target’s affordable Pillowfort Cotton Sheet Sets. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get cute, upbeat prints for a kid’s bed. PB Kids also makes a cozy flannel version I’ve bought in the past that we will be testing later this year when it’s back in stock. We don’t like that Pottery Barn Kids heavily genders everything (its stores are divided into a boys side and a girls side), but if you can get around that, the sheets themselves are of excellent quality. For older kids, Pottery Barn Teen has some fun options in this fabric, including these Pac-Man sheets that senior editor Kalee Thompson spotted. You can find some licensed options here, too, including Mickey Mouse, Disney Princesses, and Paw Patrol (the company also carries prints from franchises like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Peanuts, but those are made with a different fabric I’ve never tried). A current count shows that these organic sheets are available in 40 kid-friendly prints and patterns, enough to match every kid’s room and all your kid’s current passions-we’ve bought a lot of unicorns for my daughter but also bought sharks. The colors are brighter, too, and the sheets come in more prints than any other pick on our list. Also, because Threshold is a Target Owned Brand (Target’s way of describing products it makes itself), you have a full year to return them if they don’t work for you. A queen set costs about $50-but we’ve often seen the sheets on sale for much less-and the sheets are Oeko-Tex certified. It also comes in more prints for grown-ups than any other pick on our list (only our kids faves from Pottery Barn offer more). These are also the only printed sateen sheets on our list, so if you find percale sheets, such as those from Brooklinen, too scratchy (we hear this from readers a lot), you might like the silkier feel of this Threshold set. The colors don’t fade, and the sheets last and last. These sheets are softer and warmer than many pricier sateens we’ve tested, and they’re durable enough to last for years-I’ve owned several printed Threshold sets and washed them many times. These sheets are made with a sateen weave, a denser, silkier cotton weave that feels smoother than percale. We’ve recommended our budget pick for cotton sheets, Target’s Threshold 400 Thread Count Performance Sheet Set, since 2016.
